Shoutout to the An anonymous Japanese player has discovered a powerful new tactic to prevent Phoenix from turning dark, even with full bar.

For all you people that are sick and tired of playing against a Level 3 Dark Phoenix, this is the PERFECT tactic for you. Although, it is risky…more than half the time, you’ll be able to get yourself out of a very messy situation from an X-factor perspective!!! Let’s get into the details shall we??

Well, for one thing…if you didn’t already know about the new feature in UMVC3 – you can make your opponent lose a whole meter when you have a successful exchange for your aerial attacks. However, since your opponent is a Phoenix (normally fully stocked) player, that whole side exchange will go for naught as they will bait you into a mash side exchange so they don’t lose any meter. However, you can finally use to a tactic to your advantage!

What might you ask? You can do an option select to completely throw off your opponent! By doing a Team Aerial Counter, you can bypass the first input, and your opponent won’t have time to counteract the second 15 frames making your opponent lose a bar and not turning into Dark Phoenix! Great tactic, right?! To put it in layman’s terms, basically when you X-Factor cancel an Up or Down exchange, the Phoenix player’s side exchange is null and void!

For more information, and a small visual guide on how to achieve this feat, check out the footage below! Very informative and will even up the playing field GREATLY! ENJOY! Shoutout to Eventhubs for the post and the YouTube channel, arcadeufo, for uploading this guide!
