Sega’s San Francisco *which played a big role in creating the first Ironman* has now officially shut down. However, this will not cease the Iron Man 2 game from it’s current development.

According to IGN, “SEGA of America is sad to announce the closure of SEGA Studios San Francisco. It is an immensely talented studio and we wish all the best to all of the staff in all their future endeavors,” the company said in a statement.

“Moving forward, SEGA will continue to pursue external development opportunities all over the world and will continue to grow the renowned SEGA brand.”

SEGA purchased the studio back in April 2006 when the developer was known then as Secret Level.

The game is set to be released on May 4, 2010. Three days before the movie release.

This is definitely one of the most highly anticipated weekends in not only gaming, but movie releases for the summer of 2010.
