I have to say that consistent quality of the breakdown of fighting games is incredible. Maximilian, you are a genius, sir. In all honesty, I won’t ever need to really purchase a guide again (unless for combos), but just look at the video he posts. He has some of the best advice for just about all major aspects of any fighting game I’ve seen. The fact that it’s so thorough, useful, and the quality of the videos makes it always great to watch. I rarely have the attention span to watch a 10 minute video unless it’s interesting. LOL. Let me not bother you with the small talk. He gets into some really great fundamentals I’m sure you all are dying to know. Peep the breakdown:
System Mechanics
This is going to be EXTREMELY crucial to the game. Why? Well, unlike other fighting games, the game dynamics like the fighting system will have a number of different strategies. On both the Tekken and Street Fighter side, you’ll have to play a certain way to take advantage of the match. That doesn’t even include the gem system, which is a whole new way of playing the game. If you remember Marvel Super Heroes, you might have some inkling of what I’m saying. However, this system is a lot more complex. Another thing is that chain combos and cancels will be very useful. For example, knowing how to do a cross assault using certain attacks will help break combos and chain them.
Super charge is a new tactic where you utilize the same button sequence as you would to do your super art. However, the difference is instead of doing all 3 kicks or punches, you only use one.
Also, another new tactic is the Cross Art. Cross Arts can be much more damaging then Super Arts. If you have a good team up, the damage can go from 400 to 500, which is really significant. Also, some Cross Arts can take away from the sub damage. This means that the other team will suffer greatly bringing you a tremendous advantage!
Meter Usage
Here is one of the most crucial elements of the game. Learning how to utilize your meter. Having a good strategy and picking your team is a way to truly maximize your meter. Let’s break down a few concepts.
Switching
Switching costs a bar, but it’s great for linking in some basic or special moves all the while helping to conserve some of your partner’s health. It’s a great tactic for making a strong comeback!
Alpha Counter
It costs a meter as well, can do some decent damage as well as put someone in the air for a juggle. The only gripe is that the motion might be a bit tricky at times because you hold block then forward in a few frames.
Super Arts/Cross Arts
These are great for the damage, but make sure you don’t go through a huge combo then use it. You won’t be able to utilize the full effect of these combos by doing so.
Cross Assault
This is incredible because if you perform this at the right time, you can easily take over the match. With the right setup and timing, this is probably the best usage of a three meter attack.
